It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rosalind Elma McKay (Pennycook)known as Rosie, who departed peacefully at Roxburgh House Hospice after a prolonged illness on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.
Rosalind was the cherished wife of Bob McKay, a beloved mother to Brenda, Robert, Lynn, and John, a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also a loving sister, auntie, and an amazing friend. Rosalind was a pillar of strength and love in her family, known for her leadership, kindness, warmth, and unwavering spirit. Her maternal instincts and nurturing nature touched the lives of many, providing comfort and guidance to those around her. Her memory will forever remain in our hearts. Rosalind (Rosie) was simply our hero and the bravest woman ever until the end. She was our Queen and our chief listener.
Her eldest son and head of our own family, Robert McKay, shares these heartfelt words: "My mother was a beacon of bravery and strength, facing her illness with unwavering courage. Her spirit and fight were truly inspiring. She was our anchor and our queen. Her leadership and strength were the bedrock of our family, and her maternal care made each of us feel deeply loved and supported. I love her deeply and will miss her every day. On behalf of myself, my wife Michelle McKay, my son Lee McKay, and my grandchildren Sienna and Mason McKay, we pay our deepest respects to a remarkable woman who meant the world to us. The McKay family is so proud of her life and legacy, and we will continue to honour her memory and name moving forward."
Rosalind now joins her beloved daughter Brenda, along with her sister Iris and her parents Jockey and Dot Pennycook, for eternal peace.
